Montana Ghost Towns - September 1 - 3, 2018

Natural Connections Photo Workshops

Tuition $350

This is a 2-day Montana ghost town tour that is designed to be an add-on to our Glacier National Park & Triple D Game Farm trip (click here), OR as a stand alone excursion.

Montana has hundreds of places that people call ‘ghost towns’ but not all are created photographically equal.  Some are stunning in their preserved detail, and some are simply sad with an empty mine shaft or a stone outline of where the building used to be.  On this trip we take you to the absolute best of the best the state has to offer, and in that two days you will shoot ruins that are the most photographically exciting and worthy of being photographed.

Although this is technically an ‘add on’ workshop, anyone may sign up for it even if they are not attending our Glacier National Park workshop.  But, if you ARE attending our Glacier National Park workshop, this one is the icing on the cake.  Imagine glacial lakes, mountain peaks, carved canyons and teal river cascades, guaranteed wildlife images and historical buildings so well preserved you can almost feel what it was like to live back on the frontier.  These two workshops are indeed the ULTIMATE Montana experience!

Join Ledra and Jeff and they guide you to and through these sites and help you with anything you need to capture and bring home stunning images of all that is Montana.

This workshop starts on Saturday morning and ends either Sunday night or Monday morning.  We are building in an extra shoot for the best ghost town of them all in case we get rained out OR if you just want to go back and have extra time to shoot. So plan your flight sometime in the later afternoon out of Missoula for this workshop on September 3.

*We will stay in TWO different hotels for this Missoula and Dillon, MT.

1) Staybridge Suites
120 Expressway
Missoula, MT 59808

1 night - August 31, 2018 departing September 1, 2018. We do not have a group room block for this hotel.  The rate should be somewhere around $150.  Once you register for the workshop, please go ahead and book your room here...the sooner you book, the better your rate.  We will meet the morning of September 1 here for a quick informational meeting and then leave from Staybridge Suites for our Ghost Town tour.  We will not be coming back to this hotel.

2) Best Western Paradise Inn
650 N. Montana St.
Dillon, MT 59725

2 nights - Sept 1 & 2, departing the 3rd. Rate:  TBD. We have a block of rooms for this hotel.  Make sure to tell them you are with Natural Connections Photo Workshops or mention Ledra Woodlee's group.

You will probably want to plan to fly into and out of the airport in Missoula, MT for this workshop.  If you are also attending the Glacier National Park Workshop, you have 2 options:

1) Fly into and out of Missoula for the lowest cost, but there is a little more driving (about 2-3 hours extra – but it is through some of the most gorgeous country you will ever see).

2)  Fly into Kalispell, MT and out of Missoula, MT for the least amount of driving....but be sure to check rental car prices to do so.  Generally they are higher to fly into one airport and out of another....if offered at all.

Car Rental:

There are car rental companies at either of these airports.  You will need to investigate to see if any companies allow cars to be picked up at one airport and dropped off at another.  Again, the cost to do that could be higher.
